Spring Cleaning Your HVAC Can Help Improve Air Quality
Posted on: April 2, 2018
Spring is here and so is dreaded allergy season! Though you might be sniffling and sneezing your way through spring cleaning, we have one thing we believe you should put on the top of your spring cleaning to do list and that’s your HVAC. By giving your HVAC system a full good spring cleaning, you can ensure better air quality and in turn, fight off the dreaded allergy season. So how does one spring clean their HVAC? We have some tips below:
Check and Change Filters
Your air filters are there to ensure that your home has proper air quality, and with a variety to choose from, you could block out dust, pollen and pet dander from being blown around your house. Your air filters should be checked at least every three months and depending on how frequently you use your system, or how big your home size is, sometimes even monthly. By ignoring your air filters, you are allowing for dirty air and debris to fly around the home. With time, the dirty air can also put a strain on your system.
Check The Outside Unit
The last thing you want is for your outside unit to break down and for you and your family to be stuck in a muggy and hot home. Your outdoor unit should always be clean, uncovered and free of debris. Be sure that no leaves, spring flowers or twigs have fallen into your system and that everything is a reasonable distance away from it. A little shade is right, but you don’t want overgrown trees blocking your system.
Schedule Your TuneUp
To ensure that every part of your system is working efficiently and that your HVAC is putting out clean and crisp air, you want to get regular Tune-Ups. Not only will a Tune-Up extend the life of your system, it will also ensure that you’re getting the cleanest and most comfortable air in your home. Expert technicians can look for leaks and not so easy to spot repairs and fix them accordingly before they become major issues and cost you money in the long run. so don’t forget to add your HVAC Tune-Up to your to-do list.
