HEPA Filters Can Help You Survive Allergy Season

Posted on: March 19, 2018

Spring is almost here and with it comes that dreaded allergy season! Though allergy season in Florida might seem like it lasts forever, we promise it doesn’t have to. With the right home prep and AC care, you can help ease the symptoms and make it through allergy season with fewer tears and sniffles than ever before. So what’s the secret? HEPA filters, and here’s why:

Better Protection

What separates HEPA filters from the rest is the type of debris it traps. While many air filters will help trap dirt and dust, HEPA filters are made of very fine mesh and can trap pet dander, tobacco smoke, and pollen. With better filtration, you are looking at maximum air quality.

A Variety of Options

HEPA filters have different levels of protection, and to know what level you are getting, you’ll want to look at the MERV rating. The higher the MERV rating, the more efficient your filter will be at blocking out particles. Rated from MERV 1 to MERV 12,  a 10 or higher is ideal for blocking the smallest particles.

You’ll Still Need to Do Your Part

Beyond a reasonable HEPA filter, you will also want to ensure that you are regularly keeping up with dusting and vacuuming. By keeping the home clean, you can ensure your air quality is good too. Don’t forget to keep note of when you’ve changed your HEPA filter. If you are unsure of how often your filter has to be changed, our technicians can help.

A Must For Pet Owners

Spring also equals shedding season for most dog owners. With the extra pet dander comes an increased chance of allergies but that’s where a HEPA filter comes in. A HEPA filter can stand up to pet dander and efficiently ensure, your home air quality is clean as can be.
