Summer Home Safety Tips

Posted on: May 16, 2016

The summertime is quickly approaching! The kids are anxiously awaiting their break from school and relatives are planning their vacations down to the sunshine state. For many families this year, this means more time spent at home with loved ones. Here at Midway Services, we know that the home is where some of your greatest memories are formed and that is why we do all that we can to make and keep your house as safe and functional as possible!

With all the excitement surrounding summertime, don’t be quick to neglect the small details that can keep everyone safe and having a great time for the entire season. Especially with visitors in and out & long days and nights in the yard and the pool, being cautious and prepared are always the way to go. Here are a few easy tips to be sure that this summer is a phenomenal one.

  1. Be sure the pool is secure. Whether you have an alarm system to get outside, a gate around the pool, or both, it is still important that you have an adult watching children and pets at all times! Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental deaths and it can be avoided with proper care and procedures!
  2. This is the time for barbecues and maybe even adorning your backyard and patio in candles for those exciting summer night parties. Be sure to be extra careful that a fire doesn’t arise & that your smoke alarms are in working order in case there is a situation this summer.
  3. Having an emergency kit and family plan is also very important for times of flooding, hurricanes, or tornados.
  4. The heat can get intense in the summer months in Tampa Bay. Be sure that everything in your home is up to code and is ready for the pressure that the hot air and sun damage can bring. Things like your windows and pipes are definitely some things to check out this season.

Midway Services is always ready to check your plumbing & our inspections are a great way to know if your pipes and water system is ready to take on the summer heat. Contact us today for more information on plumbing repair or to schedule your own appointment!
