Keeping Cool This Summer
Posted on: July 6, 2015
It is officially July, which means beach days, barbeques, and sky-high temperatures here in Safety Harbor. And while AC services are vital to keeping your family cool on warm days, there are also a few other steps to keep your home comfortable, no matter the temperatures outside.
At Midway Services, we know that sometimes the only ways to beat the heat are a cold drink, a dip in the pool, or going inside your perfectly cooled home. So, how can you make sure you and your family stays cool this summer? Here are a few simple tricks:
- Don’t run heat producing appliances during the day. This can include the washing machine and the oven. The sun’s rays combined with the heat coming from your appliances will make your AC need to work that much harder to keep your house a comfortable temperature.
- Use ceiling fans. It is a common misconception that ceiling fans can actually change the temperature in a room. While this is untrue, they can actually make a room feel cooler to the people occupying it, by constantly circulating the air and creating a breeze. Remember to not leave them on when a room is empty though- since they can’t change the temperature, it will just be a waste of energy.
- Take a look at your linens. Consider switching to lighter bed sheets for the summer, so you won’t need to turn the thermostat down so low. Also get some thicker curtains to block the sun from coming in if you have any east or west facing windows.
- Keep up with AC services. Making sure that your air conditioner is working at peak efficiency will ensure that your Safety Harbor home is always at the perfect temperature. It will also give you the peace of mind that your cooling unit will never randomly stop working.
At Midway, we know that even though we are lucky to enjoy beautiful weather here in Safety Harbor, we still need to have a working air conditioner to feel comfortable.
